It seems that I underestimated the time I needed to write the article I planned to this week. It will have to wait until next week. Meanwhile, I refer you to three articles for your consideration which have been put out by faculty from The Heritage Foundation. Since I’m a bit pressed for time to meet my Sunday night deadline, I will not be commenting on the individual articles — just presenting opening quotes and key takeaways as provided in the articles themselves….
“End the Corporation for Public Broadcasting” by Mike Gonzalez
“With conservatives back in power, public media is getting back to what it really excels at. No, not objective, impartial reporting. If NPR and PBS focused on that, they wouldn’t need to be so good at their side hustle: desperately lobbying Congress not to defund them. Now that they’re good at. The lobbying efforts have worked every time conservatives have had power, going back to when President Lyndon Johnson created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in the late 1960s. Every Republican president after Johnson has tried to defund, dissolve, or reform public broadcasting. Yet the CPB is still standing, and NPR and PBS remain unreformed. Weak Republican members of Congress always sweep in at the last second to save public media’s bacon.”
Key Takeaways
1) NPR and PBS covered themselves in infamy with their leftist bias while reporting on the 2020 and 2024 elections.
2) They have an obligation to be non-partisan and impartial. But they will be frantically knocking on doors on the Hill this year because they’ve given up on that.
3) There are already some bills in Congress that defund NPR or dissolve the CPB. The latter is the best approach.
“We Must Move Fast To Avert a National Electricity Crisis” by Mario Loyola
“Years of misguided climate policy have pushed America to the brink of an electricity crisis. Fossil fuel plants are retiring faster than renewable sources can replace them, at the same time as electricity demand is soaring from AI data centers and the push to electrify everything from vehicles to appliances.”
Key Takeaways
1) Congress and the new administration will have to move fast to avert what could be years of soaring prices and dangerous blackouts.
2) The main reason is the Inflation Reduction Act’s renewables subsidies.
3) President Trump has pledged to tackle the looming electricity scarcity crisis. Now Congress must be ready to do its part.

“Here’s How Republicans Should Follow Through With Their Tough Talk on Immigration” by Kevin D. Roberts
“Americans need our leaders to act with the urgency that this moment demands. The safety and security of Americans must be placed first…. Trump’s team, led by Border Czar Tom Homan, is ready to do its job. During Trump’s first term, ICE removed illegal aliens at a rate of 32% of the aggregate number of encounters, but that rate fell to 3.5% under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Congress now needs to throw its full support behind the administration so that they can track, arrest, detain and deport all 20 million illegal aliens that the American people elected Trump to evict.”
Key Takeaways
1) The number one priority for Congress right now must be to ensure that every illegal alien who has invaded our country is detained and deported.
2) Congress should pass a law that requires money transfer services to demand proof of legal status or face a 50% tax on any outgoing transfers.
3) No illegal alien should be able to live out the American dream of owning a home when so many of our fellow citizens can hardly afford to pay the rent.
I always appreciate the research and analysis produced by the folks at The Heritage Foundation, and these articles are no exceptions. Great stuff!
