Biden’s Border Crisis Burnout?
The Biden administration appears to be weary of being reminded of how badly the current border crisis has gotten and that they don’t have any answers. As per White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki:
“There are a lot of Republicans out there giving speeches about how outraged they are about the situation at the border, not many who are putting forward solutions or steps that we could take. So, we’re a little tired of the speeches, we’d like to partner on solutions and working together to address this problem that has not been partisan in the past.”
A “little tired”? Yeah, well, we’re a “little tired” of you guys lying and misinforming the public, issuing damaging policies, and blaming others for your problems. And it isn’t just Republicans that are disappointed, either.
You asked for solutions. I don’t know about cleaning up the mess you’ve already created, but to stop it from getting worse, you need to re-implement the policies of Biden’s predecessor. You will never admit it, but they worked. The people living on or near the border know it. The traffickers of drugs, weapons, and humans who take advantage of your policies know it. Honest Democrats (e.g., former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Texas State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa) know it and urge you to return to those policies. Things like:
1) Building border walls rather than tearing them down and opening the borders.
2) Supporting the Border Patrol rather than tying their hands, spreading lies about them, and disciplining them for doing their jobs.
3) Keeping “asylum”-seekers on the Mexican side of the border while their applications are processed.
4) NOT releasing thousands and thousands of illegal border-crossers into the U.S., let alone doing so in states and communities that have not agreed to it and for whom it will be a great burden.
5) NOT hypocritically declaring that illegal immigrants will not be vaccinated, while pushing for vaccination mandates for the rest of the U.S. — i.e., actual citizens and legal residents.
Last month, first a U.S. District Court Judge and then the U.S. Supreme Court ordered you to reinstate the Remain-in-Mexico policy and Migrant Protection Protocols. But, you won’t, if you can possibly avoid it. You’re not going to take seriously any conservative-recommended solutions, ‘cuz it doesn’t fit your socio-political agenda. So, don’t give us that baloney about partisanship being new or about your willingness to “partner” together on this, either. It’s just more lies and misinformation.
