Why Is Sen. Murkowski Lying About the SAVE America Act?
I will mostly limit my commentary here, except to explain that I extracted the following excerpt from an email I received a couple days ago from Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel Action.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) stood on the Senate floor and painted a grim picture of the supposed damage the SAVE America Act would do in her home state.
She pointed to Unalaska — a remote fishing community in the Aleutian Islands jutting out into the sea. She told other senators to imagine living there and simply wanting to register to vote. According to Murkowski, “You are going to have to go into Anchorage, 800 air miles.” She repeated: “800 air miles. 800 air miles.”
Murkowski said a single one-way ticket could cost between 1,100 and 1,300 dollars. Add return flight, cab fare, hotel, and food, she argued, and an eligible citizen could be forced to spend “thousands of dollars” just to satisfy the SAVE America Act’s proof-of-citizenship requirement.
The only problem is the people in Unalaska say none of that’s true.
They can prove citizenship, get a photo ID, register, and vote — all in their local community, at the library, at the DMV, or at City Hall. These locations handle all of these things regularly.
Apparently, no one in Murkowski’s office bothered to reach out to this community before she used it as an excuse to vote against the SAVE America Act. Now is the time to flood these legislators’ offices with faxes to urge them to act on this explosive truth that was just exposed.
Investigative journalist James O’Keefe did something that, apparently, Lisa didn’t do. He went there. O’Keefe flew to Unalaska, walked into the local DMV, and asked whether residents had to travel to Anchorage to get an ID. They told him no.
“We don’t have to go to Anchorage to get an ID?” O’Keefe asked, surprised.
“No, you can come here,” the DMV employee answered.
Then O’Keefe walked into the Unalaska Public Library.
“You do voter registrations here?”
“Yes.”
Then he went to Unalaska City Hall and asked whether residents would have to travel to Anchorage to vote if the SAVE America Act passed.
The city clerk answered:
“No, because we still remain as a polling place here.”
DMV. Library. City Hall. And the Post Office.
O’Keefe finally summed up what he was finding on the ground:
“Everybody here’s contradicting what Lisa Murkowski is saying.”
Why is a Republican senator standing on the Senate floor telling Americans that her own constituents would have to fly 800 miles and spend thousands of dollars — when local government employees in that very community say residents can obtain IDs and register to vote without leaving town?
When one resident was asked why they think a politician lied about that, she responded: “They lie all the time.”
Why is Murkowski so desperate to stop the SAVE America Act that she is lying to try to justify her vote against it?
One more shocker: Alaska’s voter registration website warns that people — even noncitizens — who fill out a Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) application are “automatically registered to vote” in Alaska.
The state website adds this: “Just because you received a Voter Identification Card, does not mean you are a U.S. Citizen.” Because of that, noncitizens must proactively contact election officials to ask them to cancel that registration.
Think about that. Noncitizens are automatically registered to vote in Alaska! And it’s on them to notify state officials if they shouldn’t be registered.
The SAVE America Act would close this critical gap in Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s own state. Our national election integrity should not depend on the honor system. It should depend on photo ID and proof of citizenship.

Just one more reason I don’t like or trust Lisa “RINO” Murkowski… (And Alaska’s voting laws could use some work, too.)
